The festival season is well underway now and Charlie has been kept busy with her work doing publicity for Wath Festival and organising the Wath Young Performers Award over the May bank holiday. You may have heard some of her appearances Yorkshire's local radio in the upcoming weeks promoting the music, the festival and of course her appearance there with Harriet Bartlett.
The festival was a resounding success and Charlie was delighted to work alongside some of the country's upcoming performers and judges John McCusker, Kris Drever & Sheffield Live presenter Dave Eyre to find this year's competition winner.
Norfolk-based duo, Luke Hirst & Sarah Smout took first prize and performed to a sold out audience at Wath Festival with Joby Hardwick and Phil Sinclair as runners up. Check out www.wathfestival.org.uk for all the latest news and photos of the event.
We've got a couple of very special gigs coming up in June & July, where Charlie joins country 6-piece, Sweet Dixie Dreams alongside BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominees Gilmore & Roberts, Gerry McNeice, Ben Sutton and Lynn Blakeston.
The group formed through their shared love of modern country music and the Dixie Chicks and that's what they're set consists of. You can catch the band playing in Korks Wine Bar, OTLEY on 24th June and Crookes Social Club, SHEFFIELD on 22nd July. Full details on www.charliebarkermusic.com.
