The months are flying by and we’ve got a few updates to bring you up to date with the latest news.
Charlie’s taken part in a few charity gigs and projects since the New Year. All of which have been a great success raising lots of money.
Firstly, Philip Cockerham’s charity single ‘Hard World’, which features Charlie collaborating with Tom Bliss, Dave Bowie amongst a few others has sold really well over the Christmas/ New Year period and has raised over £400 for soldier’s charity Help For Heroes. You can still get copies of this from Charlie at gigs or from Phil directly at www.philipcockerham.com.
Charlie also joined the folks down at the Winter Folk Festival in Napton, Warwickshire in February to raise money for JJ’s Memorial Fund, which gives support to wounded Paratroopers and the families of those killed in action. Many volunteers and artists gave their time for free over the weekend and their hard work paid off raising £700. Go to www.jjsmemorialfund.org for more information about the charity and to read JJ’s story.
Unfortunately, Charlie’s Dearne Valley Folk nights came to an end in February and all forthcoming events have been cancelled. Thanks to everyone who supported the nights, we had a fun time at the Park Inn Rotherham.
There’s some opportunities to see Charlie with duo partner Harriet Bartlett coming up soon. They’ll be playing the Red Shed in Wakefield on 12/03/11 and then Wath Festival on 30/04/11.
If you were one of the 2,000 people who came along to Rotherham Real Ale & Music Festival last weekend you’ll have already caught a listen of their new material. Go to www.barkerbartlett.com for more details.
